Established in 1990, the Hamblen County Planning Department serves Hamblen County through the establishment, upkeep, and enforcement of its regulations. These regulations consist of Zoning Regulations, Subdivision Regulations, Property Maintenance Regulations, Building Codes Enforcement, and Stormwater Regulations.
These regulations include property restrictions, structure restrictions and requirements, setback requirements, current International Building Code requirements, approved uses, and more.

The Hamblen County Legistlative Body met on March 24, 2022 to adopt the 2018 International Building, Residential, Energy Conservation, Fire, Plumbing, Mechanical, Fuel Gas, and Swimming Pool & Spa Codes.
